Any photographer that spends time shooting in Yosemite will tell you that the best time of year to go is winter. Not just because there are less tourists (that is a good reason!) but more so because of the visual change to the park.

The winter snows change everything. The rest of the year, the scenes are similar albeit slightly different, but in winter it is such a different place to experience and photograph. And boy is it worth it!

Yosemite National Park has released a “Visiting Yosemite in the Winter” video, and while it can be quite informative it also gives you a good idea of how amazingly beautiful Yosemite can be in a blanket of snow.

Now imagine seeing it through the viewfinder of your camera!

Join us in 2014 in Yosemite for the Winter season, as we offer two of our famous academic workshop courses in February — a weekend course and our traditional four-day course — with the iconic Firefall event playing a part of both workshops!
