While our Eastern Sierra & Owens Valley workshop has a showcase astrophotography session, many of our other workshops also include a night photography component, including our Death Valley, Yosemite in Winter and Yosemite in Spring workshops.
The national parks in our workshops are located away from bright city centers that typically produce light contamination that affect the dark night sky. Deep in Yosemite and Death Valley, the only light contamination is from the immediate surroundings.
Yosemite National Park has released the latest “Yosemite Nature Notes”, produced by the amazingly talented Steven Bumgardner, which focuses on the night sky above Yosemite.

If you’re interested in shooting the night sky above Yosemite, check out our Yosemite in Winter and Yosemite in Spring workshops, both of which incorporate a star trails and astrophotography session into the workshop (weather permitting for the winter workshop, of course!).
